Requirements for National visa applications

ATTENTION:

  • Application for visa and supporting documents may be submitted only in person by prior appointment using Online Consular Registration
  • Application received by post or fax will not be considered.
  • Citizens of Turkey or holders of the Residence Permit in Turkey are eligible to submit visa application to the VFS Global visa centers.
  • You may apply up to 6 months before you travel.
  • Visa application will be processed within 15-20 days of the date of the lodging of an application at the Embassy. This period in certain cases might be extended up to 45 days.
  • No fast track visa application is possible.
  • Please note that all applications are processed individually. You may be requested further documentation or information, which can prolong the processing time.
  • Visa application fee is not refundable.

 

I. LIST OF GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. A completed and signed application form for National visa. An application is to be completed online at https://visa.vrm.lt/epm (please select D – National, print all pages, sign each of them, staple together and bring along with other documents for the interview).
     
  2. A valid travel document satisfying the following criteria:

    • its validity period being at least three months longer than the validity period of the requested visa.
    • it shall contain at least two blank pages;
    • it shall have been issued within the previous 10 years.
     
  3. Two colour photos of the person satisfying the following criteria:
    • Actual (made no earlier than 6 months ago), size - 3.5 x 4.5 cm, printed on photo paper
    • The face must occupy 70-80 % of the area, the face from the chin to the upper head should occupy 31-36 mm
    • The background is white and monochrome
    • The person in the photo must be without sunglasses
    • The person in the photo must be free of headwear or other items that cover the head except for the obligatory religious headwear.
    • Glasses cannot have darkened lenses
    • The picture cannot have any lighting effect
    • Eyewear should not cover eyes
    • The mouth in the picture must be completely closed.
  4. Document proving Travel medical insurance

    Travel medical insurance shall cover any expenses, which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during their stay in the Republic of Lithuania. The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s stay. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000.
     
  5. Proof of confirmed roundtrip flight ticket or reservation to the country of final destination and to the country of origins or residency, or other proof of intended transport. If travelling by car originals and copies of car registration and insurance documents must also be provided.
     
  6. The mediation letter (request to issue a multiple-entry national visa to a applicants) of the inviting institution, enterprises or organizations of the Republic of Lithuania, where the applicant comes, submitted in accordance with the established procedure.

    The Letter of Mediation is submitted electronically via the Information System of Electronic Services. The electronic information system provides the mediation letter with the number, which the foreigner indicates upon arriving at the Embassy.
     
  7. Visa application fee 120 EUR (see Consular services and fees)

    • Fee must be paid to the bank account of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania before the submission of the application or by debit or credit chip card (VISA/Mastercard) at the Embassy during the submission of application.
    Fee exempt: full-time students, accepted to Lithuanian universities and colleges; students, traveling to Lithuania under EU student exchange programs; and holders of the positive decision regarding the issuance of the Temporary Residence Permit in the Republic of Lithuania.
     
  8. Minors:

    • Copy of the birth certificate
    • Consent of the parental authority or legal guardian should be required only if the minor travels alone or only with one parent. Exceptions should be made to this if the single parent with whom the minor is to travel holds the parental authority alone (i.e. in cases where the other parent has deceased or been deprived of custody, e.g. a death certificate of the other parent or a co
    • urt degree vesting custody exclusively in the parent who is signing the application would be requested).
    • Copy of the valid Schengen visa of the parent(s) travelling with the minor for whom a visa is not applied at the same time with the parent(s).
     
  9. Non-Turkish nationals, proof of legal residence in the Republic of Turkey in line with national legislation (e.g. residence permit, long-term visa), valid for at least 3 months after the planned return from the territory of the Member States or a document proving that the applicant has applied for a renewal of proof of legal residence. If not resident, proof of legal presence in the Republic of Turkey and justification for submitting visa application in the Republic of Turkey instead of the country of residence.

 


 

II. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BE PRESENTED DEPENDING ON THE PURPOSE OF TRAVEL

  • A student entering the Republic of Lithuania to study under a student exchange program drawn up by an international higher school or a higher school registered and operating in the Republic of Lithuania and a foreign higher school
    a) Grant certificate issued by the Turkish National Agency or Turkish university (original document)

    b) Letter issued by Turkish university confirming applicant’s exchange studies without grant (original document), if applicable

    c) Letter of Admission to the University or College in Lithuania (in English)

    d) Student certificate issued by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey (YÖK) with readable QR code

    e) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) receives a regular income, if applicant cannot present Grant certificate:

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month – 304 EUR)
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage - 607 EUR).

    f) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, campus residence reservation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

     

  • A student admitted into a registered and functioning higher education establishment of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) Letter of Admission to the University or College in Lithuania (in English).

    b) Student certificate issued by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey (YÖK) with readable QR code, if applicable.

    c) Transcripts of current studies, certificates (diploma) of previous studies accomplished, if applicable.

    d) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a scholarship confirming document)

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania
    (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month – 304 EUR)
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage- 607 EUR).

    e) Proof of pre-payment of studies, if applicable.

    f) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, campus residence reservation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    g) SGK (social security) registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    h) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

  • A person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to work as a teacher or conduct scientific researches and (or) experimental (social, cultural) development work as a researcher, having a labour contract or author’s contract signed with a science and research institution registered in the Republic of Lithuania, or a family member accompanying such a person
    a) A labour contract or author’s contract signed with a science and research institution registered in the Republic of Lithuania

    b) A family member accompanying such a person: documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the alien’s family

    c) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., labour contract or author’s contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month for an adult alien and 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month for a minor alien - 607 EUR and 304 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage- 607 EUR).

    d) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, campus residence reservation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    e) SGK (social security) registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    f) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to implement joint government programs with foreign countries as a teacher or conduct scientific researches as a researcher, or a family member accompanying such a person
    a) family member accompanying such a person: documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the alien’s family

    b) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., labour contract or author’s contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month for an adult alien and 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month for a minor alien - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage - 607 EUR).

    c) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, campus residence reservation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    d) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    e) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person who is a professional athlete or coach arriving to the Republic of Lithuania to engage in sports activities, or a family member accompanying such a person
    a) Sports contract signed by both parties

    b) Family member accompanying such a person: documents proving that he or she is indeed a member of the alien’s family

    c) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a sports contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month for an adult alien and 0.5 of the minimum monthly wage per month for a minor alien - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage -607 EUR) .

    d) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    e) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    f) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to work and has a labour permit issued to the alien by the Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) labour permit issued to the alien by the Lithuanian Employment Service

    b) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month – 607 EUR as);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage – 607 EUR).

    c) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    d) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    e) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania for seasonal work and has a permit for seasonal work lasting longer than 90 days issued to the alien by the Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) A permit for seasonal work lasting longer than 90 days issued to the alien by the Lithuanian Employment Service

    b) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage - 607 EUR).

    c) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned

    d) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    e) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person is a sailor who arrives to a ship sailing under the flag of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) Document certifying that the alien has been added to the list of the ship’s crew

    b) Labour contract signed by both parties

    c) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month - 607 EUR)
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage - 607 EUR)

    e) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    e) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person is a sailor if the ship whose crewmember he or she is, is being repaired in the Republic of Lithuania
    a) Document certifying that the alien has been added to the list of the ship’s crew

    b) Contract on the basis of which the ship is being repaired, and (or)

    c) Labour contract signed by both parties

    d) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage -607 EUR).

    e) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

    e) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • A person is a journalist accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) Document certifying that the alien has been accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania

    b) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month – 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage – 607 EUR).

    c) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    d) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code.

     

  • In cases when the Lithuanian Migration Department has taken a positive decision to issue or renew an alien’s temporary or permanent permit in the Republic of Lithuania or when a temporary or permanent permit was lost
    a) Decision of the Lithuanian Migration Department to issue or renew an alien’s temporary or permanent residence permit (no Mediation letter is required)

    b) Documents proving that a temporary or permanent residence permit was lost (e.g. police report)

     

  • Person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to work and has a profession which is included in the list of the most in-demand jobs according to economic activities approved by the Director of the Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania
    a) Labour contract signed with a company registered in the Republic of Lithuania or

    b) The employer’s obligation to employ the alien, which specifies:

    • the alien’s workplace;
    • the alien’s work function;
    • the alien’s wage;
    • scheduled beginning of work;

    c) A document confirming the alien’s qualification. The document must be legalized or apostilized in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts.

    d) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage - 607 EUR).

    e) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    f) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code (for Turkish citizens and residents only).

    h) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.

     

  • Person who arrives to the Republic of Lithuania to engage in legal activities and is a participant of a private legal entity registered in the Register of Legal Entities (hereinafter referred to as the “company”) and established not earlier than 1 year before the date of submission of the alien’s application for national visa, as defined by the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter referred to as the “participant”) if the size of the company’s equity capital (in the case of a non-stock company or private limited company – assets) is at least EUR 28,000 of which at least EUR 14,000 are funds or other assets invested by the alien, or is the chief executive of a company established not earlier than 1 year before the date of submission of the alien’s application for national visa, the size of the company’s equity capital (in the case of a non-stock company or private limited company – assets) being at least EUR 28,000, and the purpose of his or her arrival is work at that particular company
    a) The company establishment or acquisition documents.

    b) A document confirming that the size of the company’s equity capital (in the case of a non-stock company or private limited company – assets) is at least EUR 28,000 (e.g. the company’s interim financial report (balance sheet or statement of changes in equity).

    c) For the company participant:

    • a document certifying that he or she is indeed the company participant;
    • a document confirming that the participant’s funds or assets invested in the company amount to at least EUR 14,000;

    d) For the company’s chief executive:

    • a document certifying that he or she is indeed the company’s chief executive;
    • a document confirming that the purpose of his or her arrival is work at that particular company

    e) Proof of financial means (e.g., a personal bank account statement) and (or) a regular income (e.g., a labour contract):

    • to live in the Republic of Lithuania (sufficient means of subsistence equal to 1 minimum monthly wage per month - 607 EUR);
    • to return to the country of his or her origin or a foreign country to which the alien has the right to depart (sufficient amount of funds required to return equals to 1 minimum monthly wage – 607 EUR).

    f) Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the intended stay (e.g. document from the establishment providing accommodation, proof of private accommodation or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged in accordance with the legislation of the Member State concerned).

    g) SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with readable QR code (for Turkish citizens and residents only).

    h) Criminal record certificate with readable QR code.
