25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

On December 13 the 25th Anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Turkey was celebrated at the new premises of the Lithuanian Embassy in G.O.P., Ankara.

The event started with a minute of silence to honor those Turkish nationals who lost their lives at the site of the terror attack in Istanbul on December 10.  In his address to the audience Ambassador Audrius Bruzga conveyed the strong desire of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to maintain close relations with Turkey and to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation. The event was also attended by the first Lithuanian Ambassador after Independence was regained, Mrs Halina Kobeckaitė.  Ambassador Kobeckaitė recalled some of the first diplomatic exchanges between the two countries and wished the Turkish people peace, unity and prosperity.
