The Friendship Agreement between Lithuania and Turkey was signed on 17 September 1930.
Turkey has never recognized the occupation of Lithuania in 1940.
Diplomatic relations were re-established on 3 September 1991.
From 1995 to 1997, Jurgis Brėdikis served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to Turkey after the re-establishment of independence (resided in the Czech Republic).
From 1992 to 1998, Erkan Gezer served as the first Ambassador of Turkey to Lithuania.
