A seminar on countering disinformation in the press
Lithuanian experience of fighting disinformation and fake news was shared with the audience at a seminar at the Press House in Ankara on February 25. Defence Editor at DELFI.LT, the largest online news portal in the Baltics, Mr Vaidas Saldžiūnas introduced an commented on an innovative tool “Demaskuok.lt” used in debunking propaganda and fake news.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Audrius Bruzga highlighted the importance of free speech and unbiased journalism in a democratic society and specifically noted Lithuania’s engagement in the international campaign of pursuing safety and security of journalists in the areas of conflict.
The seminar was made possible through the collaboration of the Lithuanian Embassy and the Turkish Journalists Association and was built on the platform of “Media Bridges Between the EU and Turkey”.
