AMBASSADOR D.PRANCKEVICIUS VIZITED ISTANBUL

On January 16-17 Ambassador Darius Pranckevicius visited Istanbul.
During a visit D. Pranckevicius has met Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara group Strategic and Social Research Fund. On May, 2008, the Fund is organizing 11th Conference on cooperation between EU, Central Asia and Near East with a special focus on energy, economic development, peace and dialog between the countries. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gedimininas Kirkilas is invited to the Conference as an honor guest.Ambassador D. Pranckevicius also paid a visit to prof. Ilber Ortayli, Director of Tpkapi Palace Museum. During the meeting the common project of this Museum and Lithuanian National Museum was discussed. The object of the project is to present to the public the historical materials related to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania which are found in archives of Osman Empire and Turkish Museums. This project is a part of the Lithuania’s Millennium program.
