Ambassador R. Degutis presented the Letters of Credence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
On the 15th of March Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mr Ričardas Degutis presented Letters of Credence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mr Arif Alvi. During the meeting with the President, Ambassador R. Degutis discussed the bilateral relations between Lithuania and Pakistan and the prospects for cooperation, the development of relations between the countries' universities and student exchanges.
In order to raise awareness about Lithuania, Ambassador R. Degutis gave an interview to Pakistan's PTV program "PTV World" and met other Pakistani media representatives. During his visit to Pakistan, the Lithuanian Ambassador also met with the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Pakistan Mr Masud Khan, the Heads of the Islamabad Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Pakistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Karachi, representatives of Lithuanian business, World Bank representatives in Pakistan, representatives of foreign diplomatic corps.
Ambassador R. Degutis met with representatives of the Pakistan Art Council in Karachi, meanwhile Lithuanian contemporary art was presented in the country's largest city. 14-16 of March Lithuanian "Art and Science Laboratory" (MMLAB) contemporary dance performance "Dance for washing machine and mother" was shown in Karachi, joint projects of Lithuanian and Pakistani artists took place. In Karachi, R. Degutis met with the creative group of the performance and its author, choreographer and dancer Greta Grinevičiūtė.
The Lithuanian Ambassador residing in Ankara is accredited to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Pakistan recognized Lithuania's independence on the 8th of September 1991, diplomatic relations between two countries were established on the 31st of May 1994.
