LITHUANIA IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY
Lithuanian Ambassador stated that companies of which invest in Lithuania could reach easily both Baltic Region and European market. Apparently he added that his country gives special opportunities to foreign investors.Mr. Ambassador said that it is the first time that Independence Day is celebrated out side of Ankara, in an important city like Bursa. Honorary Consul Mr. Berat Tunakan works hard for development of relations between two countries. Mr. Ambassador stressed that there has been a balanced commerce capacity between our countries since 1995 however with the global economic crisis it decreased 40 %. Lithuania has almost overcome the crisis and there are good opportunities for investors in Lithuania.Mr. Darius Pranckevicius said that the items of Turkish export to Lithuania are jewellery, metal products, cauldron, machine and apparatus, motor land vehicles, tractor, bicycles, synthetic and artificial not carded staple fibres, vegetable and fruits, textile and knitting products, cotton, not kitted clothing accessories... And the items of Lithuania's export to Turkey are electronic accessories, iron and steel, organic chemistry products, other vegetable textile fibres, paper yarn, animal fodder, glues, enzymes, mineral fuels and oils. And investments sectors in Lithuania are; wood working, textile, construction, electronic, machine and information technologies, agriculture and agricultural industry, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, transportation infrastructure and distribution and financial services including insurance and tourism sector...Mr. Ambassador answered the question of why Lithuania to invest that because Lithuania is the biggest and rapidly developing market in Baltic and it is closed to Scandinavian, Germany, Central Europe and Baltic countries. Also it is closed to non EU markets such as Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. To the question related to tax advantages for foreign investors in Lithuania MR. Ambassador told that there are important Turkish companies active in Lithuania, they could be get in touch for advantages information but also investors could get in touch with "Invest in Lithuania" to get information about special packages for foreign investors which has consultation services together with significant tax discounts.Regarding to Turkish candidature to EU Mr. Darius Pranckevicius stated that Turkey has always been part of Europe politically and historically and Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Ottoman Empires were neighbours in 15th century. There are still Turkish drums reflecting the joint past in Saint Petras and Povilas Churches in Vilnius. Also Turkey has a special place for Lithuania because Turkey has never recognised the Soviet occupation and supported Lithuania for the accession into NATO.
