Lithuanian Ambassador presented his Credentials to the President of Iran

On May 3 Ambassador Brūzga was received in Tehran for the presentation of Credentials by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr Hassan Rouhani.

Having received the Credentials President Rouhani noted the current favourable political climate for the development of bilateral relations. Now that the Nuclear agreement (JCPOA) has been achieved and sanctions removed, new possibilities for trade and investment open up. Lithuania and Iran can now have a new begining in bilateral cooperation. To serve this purpose a visit to Tehran of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mr Linas Linkevičius is planned at the end of May 2016. A treaty on economic cooperation is expected to be signed during the visit and a joint Lithuanian – Iranian business forum organised.
