Lithuanian Honorary Consulate opens in Istanbul
A new Lithuanian Honorary Consulate was opened in Istanbul on October 30, 2017. A respected citizen of Turkey, President of Sarper Petrol A.S., Mr Sarper Cengiz was apointed to the post of the Honorary Consul of Lithunia with the consular jurisdiction over the province of Istanbul.
The official opening of the Consulate was attended by the The President of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mrs Dalia Grybauskaitė, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey, H.E. Mr Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, Mr. Ismail Gultekin.
When presenting the Honorary Consul with his Patent Ambassador Audrius Brūzga said the following: „At long last we can proudly fly the flag of Lithuania in this Great City and at long last our fellow citizen will have a number to call in Istanbul and expect help and assistance. I have no doubt that this Consulate will be instrumental in bridging the Bosphorus and the Baltic Sea and witness an exciting and beneficial cooperation between Lithuania and Turkey immerging”.
