LITHUANIAN PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES NEW PRESIDENT OF TURKEY
Wednesday, August 29, (Vilnius) – President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus congratulated the new President of Turkey Abdullah Gül.
“Today Lithuania and Turkey have the same desire to build united and prosperous Europe which is open and democratic, which respects human rights and liberties. Today our countries work closely together in promoting and defending shared Euro-Atlantic values, in contributing to security and stability in Afghanistan and other parts of the world”, wrote President of Lithuania in his letter of congratulations.
President Adamkus expressed confidence that Abdullah Gül’s election as President of Turkey would give a new impetus for enhancing partnership between the two countries, in particular in the fields of Turkey’s European aspirations, energy security, development of transport networks and business relations.
