LITHUANIAN-TURKISH POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS IN ANKARA

Lithuanian delegation headed by the Director of the European Union Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Vidmantas Purlys, visited Ankara on October 24-25.

Lithuanian – Turkish political consultations were held on issues of bilateral relations, Turkey’s negotiations with the EU, situation in South Caucasus and Central Asia as well as Lithuanian and Turkish regional energy infrastructure projects development.

“Lithuania and Turkey maintains an intensive dialog so the positions on many international politics issues are close“– said V. Purlys.

He stressed that Lithuania actively supports the EU open doors policy and is of an opinion that every European country, which shares democratic values and meets the requirements may become a member of the EU.

The Director General of the EU department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Naci Saribas, noted that the Government of Turkey is pledged to continue reforms and seek the membership in the EU.
