REPRESENTATIVES OF TURKISH TRAVEL AGENCIES VISIT LITHUANIA
On September 19-21, delegation of Turkish travel agencies association, TURSAB, visited Lithuania. The trip was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism.
Turkish delegation was composed of major touristic operators, which are interested in promoting tourism to Lithuania.In the meeting at the Sate Department of Tourism potential of the tourism in Lithuania was presented.
„We are glad to see the active interest in Lithuania. Turkish travel agencies association shows initiative and active participation which means that our country is interesting to the Turkish side.“ – said Alvitis Lukosaitis, Director of the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism. He emphasized that traditionally, the heritage of Turkic – Tartars and Karaites – in Lithuania is especially of interest to representatives from Turkey.
Accordig to the Vicpresident of TURSAB, Ryza Epikmen, Lithuania is interesting, yet little known in Turkey. This visit will contribute to better present Lithuania for Turkish travel agencies and the people. He mentioned that direct flights from Istambul to Vilnius also helps to better organize the touristic tours to Lithuania.
During the visit delegation from Turkey had a possibility to meet representatives from Lithuanian airlines – FlyLAL and Lithuanian tourism agencies as well as officials from the MFA, municipalities of Trakai and Kaunas.
