Restoration Of The State Of Lithuania Celebrated With The National Defence Volunteer Forces Big Band
On Thursday, 14th February, the Embassy of Lithuania in Ankara held a National Day reception commemorating the 101th anniversary of Restoration of the State of Lithuania and the 70th anniversary of Minaičiai Declaration.
Lithuanian Ambassador Audrius Brūzga in his opening speech said: „This year we mark the anniversary of the Act of Independence of 16th February 1918 Restoration of the State of Lithuania, also commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Lithuanian Partisans Declaration of 16th February. These two documents are extremely significant to the statehood of the Republic of Lithuania, as both of these emphasize the ideal of independent, democratic Lithuania, in which we have the privilege to live today.”
The celebration was marked by the exclusive concert of the Big Band of The National Defence Volunteer Forces of the Republic of Lithuania. The National Defence Volunteer Forces Big Band was the First military band founded in 1991 after the Restoration of Independence of Lithuania.
The reception was honoured by the attendance of distinguished guests including Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey Ms Gonca Yılmaz Batur, Advisor to the President of Turkey Mr Sinan Zeren, as well as state officials, foreign diplomats, officers from State Border Guard Service and Police Department of the Republic of Lithuania, representatives of science, culture and business, international and Lithuanian community in Turkey.
On Saturday, February 16th, the Lithuanian National Day events were followed by the greeting on Atakule Tower – a prominent symbol of Ankara.
