Second General Congress of Lithuanians Living in Turkey
On the 16th of November, the second general congress of Lithuanians living in Turkey took place in Cappadocia. About 50 Lithuanians and their family members attended from Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Alanya and other Turkish cities and regions.
The participants of the congress were welcomed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Turkey H.E. Mr Audrius Brūzga, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Cappadocia Mr Yakup Dinler and Chairman of the Turkish Lithuanian Community Mr Margiris Klenavičius.
Ambassador A. Brūzga thanked the Lithuanian community in Turkey for its active participation celebrating the Centenary of Lithuania's Independence in 2018 and invited Lithuanians to participate in the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence next year.
During the meeting, vision and growth opportunities of the community, potential cooperation with Turkish institutions and Lithuanian organizations as well as joint initiatives and common events with the Lithuanian Embassy in Turkey in 2020 were discussed.
