THE MINISTER OF CULTURE VISITED TURKEY

On May 25-27 The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Jonas Jucas paid an official visit to the Republic of Turkey.
J. Jucas had meetings with Undersecretary of Culture and tourism, Onder Aytac, organizational committee “Istanbul – European capital of culture 2010“, directions of Istanbul Culture and Art Foundation.During the visit it was agreed to strengthen bilateral cultural relations and to draw up the program of cooperation between two ministries, which is planned to be signed during the visit of Turkish Minister of Culture to Lithuania.
In addition, it was agreed to start Lithuanian and Turkish project on historical materials related to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania which are found in archives of Topkapı Palace Museum.
It was also agreed to work on bilateral projects connecting Vilnius and Istanbul as two European capitals of Culture and to continue introduction of Lithuanian art in international festivals of Istanbul.
